Are you wondering how dental crowns strengthen and improve natural teeth?

Are you part of the one-third of Americans that are unhappy with their smiles? If you are dealing with a weak or damaged tooth, we know that nothing is more important than getting the highest quality restorative dentistry here in Lubbock, TX. Our dentists Dr. Jimmy Hill and Dr. Camie Davis can provide you with realistic and incredibly durable dental crowns.

When are dental crowns used?

Dental crowns have been around a while and there is a reason why. They are a very versatile restoration that can be used to repair and treat a wide range of dental issues including,

  • Strengthening a broken, cracked, or fractured tooth
  • Preserving the natural tooth structure and to prevent the need for an extraction
  • Preventing a weak tooth from becoming more damaged (e.g. due to decay, infection, or injury)
  • Securing a dental bridge into place
  • Covering a dental implant to complete the restoration
  • Covering and improving a misshapen or severely discolored tooth

You may have heard people call dental crowns “caps”. This is because this tooth-shaped restoration is hollow, which allows it to fit completely over a tooth to encapsulate and protect what’s left of the tooth. Our Lubbock, TX, family dentist understands how important it is to have a dental crown that looks like a real tooth. All of our dental crowns are custom made to fit your smile.

What should I expect when I get a dental crown?

Since crowns are custom-fitted to your mouth, we will first need to take measurements of your mouth. This information is provided to a dental lab, which will make your perfectly crafted crown. In the meantime, a temporary crown will be placed over the tooth to protect it.

Your crown is made based on your specific measurements and the porcelain used to craft your crown will also be matched to the shade of your smile. It usually takes about two trips to our office to get your new crown, and once you do, you could have it for up to 10 years or more with the proper care.

Don’t leave damaged or weak teeth untreated. Turn to our Lubbock, TX, dentist for the quality dental crowns you deserve. Call Hill-Davis Dental Group at (806) 793-0651 to schedule a consultation.
